PLASTIC SURGERY TRAINING
October 1985 to September 1986,
Honorary Registrar in Plastic Surgery, Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. A small
plastic surgery unit with a wide range of operating experience available in
an academic setting.
October 1986 to September 1988,
Honorary Senior Registrar in Plastic Surgery, West Norwich Hospital, Norwich.
A large regional plastic surgery and burns unit. Considerable experience in
paediatric burns and congenital abnormalities available.
October 1988 to October 1989, Senior
Registrar in Burns and Plastic Surgery, Queen Elizabeth Military Hospital, Woolwich.
The Army burns unit taking both civilian and military burns. An increasing workload
of trauma reconstruction being undertaken.
March 1989 to September 1989, Honorary
Senior Registrar in Plastic Surgery, Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
Attendance at this internationally renowned unit has been for two days a week
including one night on call.
CONSULTANT APPOINTMENTS
ARMY
October 1989 appointed Consultant
in Burns and Plastic Surgery at Queen Elizabeth Military Hospital, Woolwich.
The only military plastic surgery unit of the Defence Medical Services. An acute
burns unit takes military casualties from around the world and civilian burns
locally. Patient load is roughly half military and half civilian. Paediatric
plastic surgery is performed abroad and in a local Health Service Hospital.
This is a tertiary referral unit for reconstructive plastic surgery, particularly
lower limb trauma. Out patient clinics and operating sessions are held regularly
in both the UK and abroad.
November 1992 appointed Consultant
Adviser in Burns and Plastic Surgery to the Director General Army Medical Services.
November 1993 appointed Consultant
Adviser in Plastic Surgery to the Royal Air Force.

May 1995 appointed consultant plastic
surgeon to Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital Trust
Autumn 1995 appointed Deputy Clinical
Director of ENT and Plastic Surgery Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital Trust.
Autumn 1998 appointed Clinical Director
Plastic Surgery Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital Trust
November 1999 resigned from National
Health Service to practise in the private sector.
